Relationship Counselling Course

This six-week couples counselling training course aims to give qualified counsellors the knowledge, skills and experience needed to enable them to work competently and confidentially with couples and relationships. The course combines theory with practical activities designed to reinforce learning and enhance skills development.

Course Objectives

The course objectives are to:

  • build on the counsellor’s existing skills and knowledge
  • increase understanding of contractual considerations when working with couples
  • develop an understanding of theoretical models underpinning working with more than one client
  • engage in experiential activities designed to increase understanding and consolidate learning
  • develop and extend existing skills and professional practice

The Trainer

Joan Manville will facilitate the training. Joan is a highly experienced couples’ counsellor and trainer. She has worked as a relationship counsellor for over 25 years, and been teaching couple’s counselling for over 20. Joan has worked in a variety of organisations, nationwide. Her teaching style is warm and open, with just a hint of humour.

The training will take place over six Sundays, with a one-week break between days 3 and 4. Each day starts with refreshments at 9:30 AM and finishes at 4 PM each day. The dates are:

  • 2 August 2020

Location

The training will take place at Counselling Matters, 18 Crosby Road North, Waterloo, L22 4QF. Please arrive by 9:30 am for a 10:00 start. We’ll finish at 5 pm on both days.

Our offices are just a few minutes walk from Waterloo station on the Northern Line and the major bus routes (47, 53, 53A, 63, 133 and X2 buses). There is a small car park, and additional on-street parking is available, and a pay-and-display car park a few minutes walk away.

Costs

The course costs £500 in total.

We will take a non-refundable deposit of £150 on booking. You can pay the balance by monthly direct debit, bank transfer or credit/debit card. The costs include all materials and refreshments each day.
