Counselling Matters
Confidentiality
Maintaining strict confidentiality is a matter of extreme importance in counselling. Subject to the constraints of English law and ethical practice, we would never disclose anything discussed during counselling.
There may be situations where a third-party, such as your employer, is paying for counselling on your behalf. However, the bounds of confidentiality remain and we would not disclose anything you say to them. The fact you have participated in counselling does not go on your medical record and your GP would not be advised of your attendance.
Your counsellor would discuss the limits of confidentiality with you before the first session commenced and would be happy to answer any questions you may have at that point. If you have any concerns not answered here, you are welcome contact us for further information.
