We last ran this workshop in 2012, but we have recently been requsted to run it again. We are currently looking into putting it on again this year. Please contact us if you're interesting in attending.
When committed to counselling, teenagers can make the most astonishing progress. They can also be as changeable as our weather, unreliable in attending sessions, reluctant to talk, awkward or surly and difficult to engage.
This practical workshop will explore a variety of creative ways that adults can quickly form a strong rapport with this age group. You will also learn some new ways of overcoming the inevitable “impasses” thrown up by young people. Time will also be spent on helping you to access your creativity.
The workshop is suitable for all those working supportively in a pastoral role with primary and secondary age children: school counsellors, youth workers, primary mental health workers, learning mentors, home/school liaison workers and those who support Heads of Year. It will be assumed that attendees already have a basic training in counselling skills.
After lunch, there will be a 90 minute session about the theory and practice of sandtray. A demonstration in use of sandtray will be included.
Breakfast, refreshments and a buffet lunch are included in the price. Please indicate when you book if you have any special dietary requirements.
